Steven Spielberg’s ‘West Side Story’ Casts High Schooler As Maria
When he required a Tony for his West Side Story remake, Steven Spielberg chose a name: young Ansel Elgort For his Maria– the other half of the Romeo and Juliet-in-New York City set– the famous filmmaker chose to it work best with an unidentified. Her name is Rachel Zegler, a 17- year-old from New Jersey who will be making her movie launching under the tutelage of the person who made Jaws over a quarter century prior to she was born.
